About

Chris JacksonHi my name is Chris Jackson, I recently turned 60 and am very happily married with two young adult daughters.  My home is Falmouth in Cornwall but I now principally work and live in La Ciotat in southern France.

I started into the idea of ultra cycling in September 2016 having read of The Transcontinental Race when browsing online about bikes. Something clicked in me and I knew it was time for me to embark on a new phase in my life.

This web site chronicles some key rides and races since that time and lessons I’ve learned along the way. I’m not a prolific blogger but I like to think that anything I contribute here is useful to anyone else starting down the ultra cycling road.

A few people have told me they’ve been inspired by my writing and rides and that this has contributed to them also joining this endurance cycling adventure. I like that!

I often feel some trepidation before I ride away from the comforts of home but that soon passes and as I finally lie happily exhausted in a simple bivi bag, late into the night, looking up at the stars, I feel a great sense of peace and contentment.

I predominately ride alone but I never feel lonely out on the road.
